Arqaios, Inc. is a Chicago-based technology company founded by Bruce Ross. We build ALLIE, a fixture-native sensing platform that puts 60 GHz mmWave radar, acoustic sensing and edge AI into the standard light switches, outlets and vents of senior living communities and hotels: camera-free fall detection and resident safety for senior living, occupancy-based energy reduction and housekeeping awareness for hotels.

Arqaios is a CES 2026 Innovation Awards Honoree and a Residential Systems 2026 Picks Award winner, and holds two issued U.S. patents on its technology.

Why we exist

Buildings know almost nothing about the people inside them. That costs lives and energy.

An older adult falls in a bathroom and lies there until the next scheduled check. A hotel room is heated and cooled for twelve empty hours a day. Both happen because the building has no idea whether anyone is in the room, and the only tools that could tell it were cameras nobody would accept or wearables nobody kept on.

Arqaios was founded on a simple observation: every one of those rooms already has a switch, an outlet and a vent. Put the sensing there, keep the intelligence in the room, and the building can look after people without ever watching them.

Four principles that shape every product decision.

Privacy is not a feature to toggle

If a system needs a camera to know whether someone is there or needs help, it is the wrong system for a bedroom, a bathroom or a hotel room. We design from that constraint, not around it.

The building should do the work

Wearables ask the most vulnerable people to remember, charge and comply. Fixtures ask nothing. The room simply notices.

One install, two outcomes

Safety earns the fixture a place in the room. Energy is what it delivers every hour after that. Operators should never have to buy those separately.

Compete with non-consumption

Most of the buildings where people sleep have no sensing and no energy management at all. That is the market, not a share of someone else's dashboard.

Bruce Ross

Founder & CEO

Bruce is a repeat founder and engineer who began his career at Motorola, where he was a named inventor on sensor technology. He founded Arqaios to solve a problem he had watched buildings fail at for decades: knowing when someone inside needs help, without turning the building into a surveillance system.

He is the inventor on Arqaios' issued U.S. patents covering communication-enabled power management and AI-enabled emergency detection and response in smart fixtures, and leads the company's product, engineering and partnerships work from Chicago.
