ALLIE is a fixture-native sensing platform from Arqaios, Inc. of Chicago that builds 60 GHz mmWave radar, acoustic and environmental sensors and on-device AI into standard light switches, power outlets and HVAC vents. It provides camera-free fall detection, presence sensing and occupancy-based energy control for assisted living, memory care and hotels. Signals are processed inside the fixture; what leaves the room is an event such as 'fall detected' or 'room occupied', never video, audio or a recording.

ALLIE is built for the two places where a building has both a duty of care and an energy bill: senior living communities (assisted living, memory care and independent living) and hotels. It replaces the light switch, outlet and vent a room already has, so a retrofit is a fixture swap rather than a construction project, and it delivers fall detection, resident and guest safety, after-hours intrusion awareness and occupancy-based energy control from the same hardware.

Replaces the receptacle. Monitors power per outlet, cuts idle loads, restores power on presence and sheds non-critical loads to extend backup runtime. The subject of U.S. Patent No. 12,282,307.

Fits the existing supply opening. Directs airflow to where people are and relaxes conditioning where they are not, coordinating with the switch for room-level HVAC setback and recovery.

ALLIE does not replace nurse call, the PMS or the building management system. It gives them the one thing they never had: a reliable, private read on what is happening in the room. Each path is scoped with the operator during deployment.

Nurse call and staff alerting

Fall, distress and wandering alerts are designed to route into the nurse-call, paging and mobile alerting workflows a community already runs, with room-level location and escalation.

Property management and housekeeping (PMS)

Room occupancy and vacancy status is designed to inform housekeeping sequencing and guest-room energy setback in hotel property systems.

Building management and HVAC (BMS)

Occupancy events are designed to drive room-level setback and recovery in building management and HVAC controls, alongside the vent's own airflow control.

Security and front desk

What is ALLIE by Arqaios?

ALLIE is a fixture-native sensing platform: standard light switches, power outlets and HVAC vents with 60 GHz mmWave radar, acoustic and environmental sensors and on-device AI built in. It detects falls, senses presence and manages room-level energy for senior living communities and hotels, with no cameras and no wearables.

How does ALLIE detect a fall without a camera?

mmWave radar in the switch measures where a person is in the room, how they are moving and their posture, and acoustic sensing recognizes the sound signature of an impact or a call for help. On-device AI combines those signals to recognize a fall in seconds and sends an alert with the room, the severity and whether the person got up. No image is ever captured.

Does ALLIE record video or audio?

No. There is no image sensor in any ALLIE fixture, and acoustic sensing recognizes event signatures on the device rather than recording or streaming audio. What leaves the room is an event such as 'fall detected' or 'room occupied', not a recording.

Where is ALLIE used?
